Benjamin 397 History, Specifications, Specs and Information
The 397 was first introduced in 1995 and sold until 1997 as the Phase I. From 1997-2005, the 397 was sold as Phase II. From 2005-2007, the Phase III was available. And in 2007, the current Phase IV was introduced to the market.The history of the Benjamin 397 indicate the adjustments to the phases have been done over the years to ensure the overall quality and affordability of the air gun. A close examination of the 397 manual shows that the original production of this Benjamin Air Rifle was done with American Walnut. However, Crosman now indicates that the Benjamin 397 and 392 air rifles are constructed with American Hardwood. This change in materials does not effect the overall performance of this powerful and accurate rifle, but it gives Crosman the ability to control production costs and the overall price paid by consumers.
The 397 should be pumped a maximum of 8 times to produce the maximum overall results.
